  • Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid and Safe Home Alone

    Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid and Safe Home Alone Learn to be safe and responsible. Build confidence. Have a competitive edge over other babysitters. One-day class. Topics include first aid, when and how to call 911, CPR with manikin practice, choking, and more! Students will also learn how to be safe and responsible when home alone, including what to do if somebody comes to the door and the importance of not giving out personal information. Students who successfully complete the course requirements will receive a certificate of completion for Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid course by Live Safe Academy (valid for two years). To be certified students must participate in the entire course from beginning to end and successfully complete all skills, which requires full motor function of all four extremities. No refunds or credit with less than 24-hour notice. If you need a medical exception, email Live Safe Academy at info@LiveSafeAcademy.com before class. Bring a snack, pen and paper for notes is optional. No cell phone use during class except during break. Please note that students must arrive on time to be certified, so please arrive up to 10 minutes early.     Tibetan Bowls and Gongs have been used for thousands of years to assist people into deep meditative states of consciousness. For the purpose of reducing stress levels and bringing you back to a state of balance. Experience how quickly these sounds can take you to a place of stillness and calm. No previous meditation experience is needed. Experience an hour of listening to these sounds that can take you quickly into a place of stillness and calm. As your mind becomes quiet, your body starts the process of releasing stress. Everyone has a personal experience with sound. One person may feel very relaxed, another’s thinking may have more clarity. Someone’s blood pressure may lower, another’s pain may be diminished. Some will have better sleep while another will find their energy is back. Whatever you find, will be just what you need. Students will be lying on the floor, please bring whatever you find to be comfortable. A thick mat or two. A zero-gravity chair. A blanket to keep you warm (your temperature will drop slightly as you relax). Maybe an eye covering and bolster for under your knees. A pillow for your head.     This well-rounded program will consist of rules, etiquette, and instructional classes as well as fun activities that promote the learning experience, giving young golfers the tools they need to play and enjoy the game of golf for a lifetime. Each week, learn the fundamentals of putting, chipping, pitching, full swing and basic etiquette of the game. Range balls provided. Class size is limited to 25 per age group. No camp the week of July 4.

    AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION Fee: $210 (all materials included) Includes Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer(PR) First Aid (FA) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED )Certification. Please note: All students must attend all sessions below in order to complete the certification in Lifeguard, CPR-PR, FA and AED. Lifeguard pre-requirements: Pre-Requirements for both of the following classes: Minimum age 15 years; must complete a swim-tread-swim sequence: Jump into the water, submerge, resurface, swim 150 yards (using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both), maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs, then swim 50 yards using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both; complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7-12 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point holding the object at the surface with both hand exit the water without using a ladder or steps. LIFEGUARD RECERTIFICATION Fee: $125 (no materials included) To recertify, you must also pass the 3 in-water scenarios and CPR/AED scenarios as well as complete and pass the written tests for all certifications you are attempting to re-certify.     Pickleball Join a fun group for some friendly competition. Played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes(similar to a whiffle ball), pickleball is fast, fun and addicting. Come play in our newly renovated gym. Instruction is available for beginners. There are designated courts for experienced players. Equipment provided. Instructors: Craig and Dean NO Drop-ins allowed for Beginners. Drop in allowed for experienced players. Drop in fee is $5. Outdoor courts are available at Pathfinder school at no charge.

  • Swim Lessons

    Parents: Please consider child's swim skills, confidence and maturity when selecting the swim class. A parent must be in the water with the child for the Aqua Tot classes. Aqua Tots 1 (Parent must be in the water): This class is about bonding with the parents as they provide support and guidance at all times. Children are still developing strength and coordination while exploring the water. We play games and sing songs as parents learn how to hold their children and move them through the water. Aqua Tots 2 (Parent must be in the water): For those ready to explore swimming more independently with parental guidance. Children will develop core strength, begin learning coordination of strokes and kicks while using noodles and equipment for support. Level 1 (Basic Water Skills): Child must be comfortable in the water without a parent. Class includes introduction to the water environment, blowing bubbles/putting face in the water, front/back kicks, arm scoops, water submersion, and water safety. This class is designed to teach independent swimming. Level 1B: Child must be comfortable in the water without a parent. For children who have completed Level 1 but still require basic instruction. Level 2 (Stroke Development): Child must have prior swim instruction, basic water skills and must be able to swim independently. Development of front/back strokes, rhythmic breathing, flipping front to back/back to front, breaststroke pull, and underwater exploration. Level 3 (Stroke Improvement): Child must have passed Level 2 class (or have instructor approval) and must be able to swim the length of the pool. Continued stroke improvement on front/back, breaststroke basics, introduction to butterfly, diving and treading water. This class works on endurance.

  • Yin - Calm Yoga for Wellness

    Yin Yoga style is a practice of passively-held floor-based yoga postures that allow for the deep connective tissues around our joints to have sufficient time to stretch and release tension. Gentle postures are held for a duration of time (3-5min), and a quiet focus is placed on the awareness of relaxing the body through calm conscious breathing. This class will incorporate mindful breathing exercises to assist with calming and grounding the busy mind and overworked nervous system.     SEPTEMBER THROUGH OCTOBER 2024 Specific dates and schedules will be announces once teams are formed. PIRATE SOCCER CLUB aims to develop soccer specific skills. This program builds strong fundamental foundations for physical skills, promotes teamwork and inspires confidence at a young age in a successful atmosphere where learning is fun. Our coaching staff will be a combination of varsity coaches, varsity players and parent volunteers all under the direction and guidance of Pinckney Men's & Women's Varsity Coach, Sean Grace. The Pirate Soccer Club provides a team jersey. Parents are asked to supply shin guards, athletic shoes(cleats or tennis), and black shorts. Parent coaches are needed for Preschool - 2nd grade teams. Players of coaches play for free. If you would like to coach please create an account in Eleyo and add your child to your account then call the Community Education office and your child will be registered at no cost. U9, U10, U11, U12, U13 and U14 teams will play eight games. There will be four home games and four away games. Home games will be played at Merrill field. Practice times/dates are TBD. Please make sure to sign your child up for the right age group. If you are unsure email Sean Grace at sgrace@pinckneypirates.org.
